Mutation 2026

Mutation brings together tech, art and makers to spark social change. Organizations, artists and makers collaboratively build a program for shared (r)evolution and tangible innovation. We organize workshops to create connections and actively build collaborations with inspiring organizations, large and small. In 2026 we continue building on the first edition prototype, with more structure and clarity while keeping the playful and experimental spirit alive. Mutation 2026 takes place at Wintercircus, a unique location in the heart of Ghent.

Abstract Mutation introduction visual

Why tech?

  • When do you use technology, and when is it better not to?
  • How does tech influence well-being, identity, democracy or inequality?
  • What happens when technology disappears?
  • How are human-machine relations, body forms and skills changing?
  • How can tech contribute to climate, inclusion or creation?

This year, with Why tech?, we explore not only what technology can do, but especially what technology does to us. We look at choices, consequences and responsibility: from everyday tools to systems that shape society.
